The Coromandel is a walker's dream with a centre dominated by a range of jagged mountains and its fringes scattered with picturesque coves and beaches.
Coromandel
Coastal Walkway
The walkway is from Fletcher Bay to Stony Bay located at the very top of the peninsula. Alternatively the walk can be done in reverse.

The walk provides great views of the coastline and offshore islands (Great Barrier Island, Cuvier, Mercury Islands, etc.). Visitors have the option of doing the walk return (6- 8 hours walking time ) or joining an organised tour with Coromandel Discovery Tours who collect visitors from Coromandel town, drop them at Fletcher Bay and pick them up at Stony Bay and return them to Coromandel town.
Bush & Birds
This part of the Coromandel forms a natural sanctuary for wildlife. Cave wetas, rare native frogs and large centipedes (check your sleeping bags!) can be found in the hills. Regenerating native forest includes kauri, puriri and a
large range of ferns. Birdlife includes the tui, bellbird, fantail, kingfisher, kiwi, harrier hawk and seabirds including large numbers of gannets on an island colony.
